Tim Lloyd
Tim is the founder of the Saab Salomon Outdoor Team; he takes care of the day to day management and running of the squad.
He is a Fire-fighter in Caernarfon, North Wales, but his background is very much in sport. From an early age Tim was involved in a variety mountain sports, from being one of the youngest runners of the first ever Snowdon race (aged 6) to competing for GB in Alpine Skiing from the age of 12 until 20. During this period Tim represented GB internationally in Europe and the US, he was a full time athlete for 3 years.
Following this, Tim studied sports coaching professionally for a year at the Moray House College (Herriot Watt University) in Edinburgh, and went on to gain the position of National Coach for the British Alpine Ski Team, he took his athletes to events such as World Cup, Europa Cup, Nor-Am, and the Olympic Games. He has also worked with the British Childrenâs ski team for a number of years.
Away from the athletes, Tim was a director for the Ski Council of Wales for a number of years, gaining valuable knowledge and experience into the politics of sport.
It is because of sports politics that Tim first formed the Saab Salomon team. Too many administrators taking too much money did not go down well, so he set out to form his own team where British athletes could be given opportunities to train and race all over the planet, and to compete against the best in the World. His faith and belief in the strength of British Fell Running has been proven time and again, with Saab Salomon athletes succeeding at all levels of the sport and on all Continents. He hopes to be able to continue with his quest to show the rest of the World that, despite our small mountains, we can be a big player in the World of adventure and mountain running.
