Almost limp free Written on May 20, 2009, by annaf.

It really is quite amazing how quickly the body heals when you encourage it and let it.

I had keyhole surgery on my knee Thursday last week, where they found and removed a Plica.

Friday and Saturday I tried very hard to do nothing while very uncomfortable with a whopping big bandage on my knee and buzzing on Co-codamen and antiflams.

Finally Sunday came around and I could take off the itchy bandage and try to move my big fat knee…it was going no where. And after not much sleep from the hyper drugs I decided to go for a lower dose of paracetomol.

Monday was the movement breakthrough, after sitting on the spin bike for 3minutes I finally made a full cirle with my leg (I think the man on the opposite machine to me was a little concerned for my mental health). It was another minute beofre the next and by the time 10mins was up I was on level 2 and only just keeping the machine awake.

Bring on Tuesday. My 10minutes on the spin bike was all that I was living for. 10mins easy! Pateince I have to remind my self.

Wednesday. Weaning off paracetamol day…but hanging on to the antiflams!!! For the females out there…It was one of those days. The morning was just the usual, ice and rub my knee, rest and watch some form of rediculous reality show on TV. I was just about to leave for a physio appointment at the Gobowen hospital and the car wouldn’t start. Usually I would get out, curse it and go and get it fixed, but today…i just cried…like a baby…for all to see…oh dear. Maybe I should up the dose of paracetamol?! Once I had pieced myself togther I did get the car going and I did get to the gym for a 20min bike pain free but still a bit stiff. And one of the little puncture holes has healed just nicely…the other still a little raw!

From all this I have learnt a couple of things…I am no good at this sitting around doing nothing palaver and also that running is more than just runnig for me. It is my emotional outlet, my way of clearing my head and it gives me happiness and enjoyment. Bring on my first run!
